From Parrots to perching birds; a brand new avian VetCPD course launches in June

‘Adding psittacine and passerine birds’ to your caseload is the highly informative brand-new avian online Vet CPD course that launches on June 4th.

Course details:

Course tutor, Sarah Pellett BSc (Hons) MA VetMB, Cert AVP (ZooMed), DZooMed (Reptilian), MRCVS, RCVS, Recognised Specialist in Zoo and Wildlife Medicine, explained what students can expect to learn from this course,

“There are a number of diseases and conditions seen amongst the avian taxa, and this course will focus on the most common reasons why birds present to a veterinary clinic.  We’ll cover reasons why birds are seen such as wing clipping, beak and nail burring, broken blood feathers, constricted leg rings, and we’ll discuss common client concerns regarding their birds. We’ll also focus on behaviour. We will also cover nutritional associated diseases, respiratory, gastrointestinal diseases and skin disorders. Common client concerns will be discussed and details will be given about how to approach these cases.”

Six modules will be covered over the three-week course, including subjects such as, Identification and Husbandry, Handling and Examination, Diseases and Anaesthesia and Surgery. Students will also be presented with several clinical cases to work through, that they will be invited to analyse and discuss in the classroom forum.

VetCPD online courses are comprised of webinars, thorough course notes, case studies, and an active forum. The courses are unique as each is run by an attentive tutor who will answer questions or comments on the forum. Each course is worth 8 hours CPD and is great value at £119 + VAT.

Other courses running this June are: ‘Cutaneous Mast Cell Tumours in the Dog’, ‘Thoracic Radiology’, ‘Feline Medicine Update 2018’, and ‘Companion Animal Behaviour for General Practice – Part 2’. All courses run for three weeks with the tutor, beginning on 4th June and ending on the 24th June. After this time, the tutor will no longer be active, but the content and MCQ exam will still be accessible, so can be completed by the participant over the next month.
