Bath Veterinary Referrals are very proud to report that one of their clinicians, Alasdair Hotston Moore, has been awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. This award is available by three routes and Alasdair was recognised for his Meritorious Contributions to Clinical Practice.
The Royal College relaunched the routes to Fellowship in 2015, and in the first wave of applications last year, there were 44 successful applications. Considering the size of the membership of the Royal College, this illustrates the honour that this award marks.
Alasdair joined Bath in 2009, having previously worked mostly at the Bristol Vet School since graduating in 1990. In his application for Fellowship, Alasdair collated evidence of his contributions to the development of small animal surgery, including teaching many cohorts of undergraduates, innumerable lectures at regional, national and international CPD events, and dozens of publications in CPD magazines, scientific journals and textbooks. He was also keen to include his interactions with post graduates, for example hosting Erasmus and other visitors at Rosemary Lodge Veterinary Hospital.
Alasdair explains what attaining Fellowship means to him: “Our profession has included the honour of Fellowship from almost the beginning of our Royal College. I have admired the achievements of many of them, including my own mentors as a developing clinician, and being awarded this recognition myself feels like the pinnacle of my career to date. Nonetheless the Royal College sees the body of Fellows as contributing to the continued advancement of veterinary knowledge, so I will not be resting on my laurels, but looking out for further opportunities to influence the development of clinical practice for years to come!”
